4 New Books You Won't Want to Miss

February 25, 2021

BY JOANNA C. VALENTE

Check out these new book releases below.

Billie R. Tadros – Graft Fixation (Gold Wake Press, 2020)

This masterful work details body trauma, medical language, and the process of healing.

C.I. Aki - The World Black, Beautiful, and Beast (May 17, 2021, April Gloaming Press)

Aki’s forthcoming book is an exploration of the self, and in the speaker’s case, what it means to be Black in America right now. The poems are tender, bold, and inquisitive—often asking the questions many don’t dare to ask, but should.

Dallie Ago – Lesser Journeys (Pravum Books, 2020)

This novel is a conversational, highly enjoyable read about its main character Dallie, who brings the reader into her fast-paced life where her love life is complicated and her passion for life is undeniable. Watching Dallie grow and evolve through travel and social interactions, as well as dealing with a chronic illness, feels both intimate and voyeuristic.

David Leo Rice – A Room in Dodge City, Volume 2 (Alternating Current Press, 2021)

This book is a sequel to Rice’s A Room in Dodge City - and it’s absolutely stunning. It’s horror meets Western meets mystery; the novel follows film cult figure, Blut Branson, as a way to explore what it means to make art, to be human, to be known.

Joanna C. Valente is an alien from Saturn’s rings. They have written, illustrated, and edited a few books. Sometimes they take photos and bake ugly desserts.
